1a.Which swim events can I take part in?

  • Primary 1  and Primary 2: Free Style and Breast Stroke only.
  • Primary 3, 4, 5 and 6: All of the events (Free Style, Breast Stroke, Back Stroke and Butterfly)

1b.Why is there a restriction of only 2 events for Primary 1 and 2 children?

  • Not many children at the ages of 6, 7 and 8 (Primary 1 and 2) may be proficient in swimming Back Stroke and Butterfly yet.
  • The restriction is set to allow equal opportunity in competing.

2. Will there shower facilities at CCAB pool?

  • There are shower rooms readily available beside the pool.
  • There are more shower rooms available by the gymnasium and at the multipurpose courts beside the hockey pitch.

3. How will I get to CCAB pool in time for the heats?

  • You will have your lunch in school at the canteen after school.
  • At 1.50 pm, you will head to the hall to assemble and be sent to the pool by the school buses.
  • All participants will have to report and be at the pool by 2.15pm.

4. How do I or my child know which heats or lanes he/she is in?

  • After the deadline for entry forms (late submission and/or last minute entries will not be entertained), a participants’ list will be generated along with the heat and lane number.
  • This list pertaining to the participants’ heat and lane number will be put up on a noticeboard outside the staffroom.
  • This list will be available online as well.
  • Children are advised to check and remember what swim event, heats and lane number they are in.
  • Participants that turn up late and/or swim a wrong heat/lane will be automatically disqualified.

5. What does the event, “Freestyle” mean? Am I limited to using only front crawl?

  • Freestyle literally means any style of swimming stroke.
  • Usually the front crawl is used as it is the fastest stroke to reach the end of the pool.
  • You can adopt any swimming stroke to complete the lap at any point in time under free style event.
  • Kick boards cannot be used in this event or any of the swim events.

6. If I missed the swimming heats on 3 February (Wednesday),  what can I do?

  • Stop swimming, tread water and signal for help.
  • There are safety officials, first aiders, life guards, swim coaches/instructors and a doctor on standby for this event.

10. Oh no! I lost or forgot my goggles/swim cap. What do I do?
